Posted - 21 Aug 2012 : 16:11:35 Hi all, I'm posting to vent my frustrations really! So, I start at UWIC in september and am still trying to sort out finance even though I applied on the 2nd of April! The main problem is that because this is my second degree my LEA are telling me that I'm not entitled to the non-means tested loan when, having spoken to many student finance wales advisers, student finance wales have told me that I am entitled to the loan! So the LEA are now looking into it and have said they'll get back to me - surely this stuff should be standard knowledge and I'm sure I can't be the only student in wales to be doing an NHS funded degree as their second degree?! Argh!!!! Very much like getting blood out of a stone! The thing that annoys me is that I then question whether or not I'm entitled to the funding but I know I am and student finance wales have even emailed my LEA to tell them this!!!
Anyone else having similar problems at all? Everyone all set for september; I'm so excited! :D xxxxx |

Posted - 22 Aug 2012 : 15:19:49 I had a near miss too. I have a degree in Electronics and finished paying back my student loan a few years ago. I applied then called and the guy on the phone said he did not think taht I would be entitled to it but then out of the blue the confirmation letter arrived and I had to sign and send back. I then received log in details and can see the schedule of payment etc so as far as I know I am expecting to get it! I think the confusion is if your 'first' degree was medical you don't get another 'bite of cherry'. You are right though, it would be better if they made sure everyone was trained to know this rather then giving out mixed messages! I am sure you will be fine, and remember some A-Level students will only just be sorting out thier loan so it can come through pretty quickly.
Good luck, will be interested to hear how you get on! Lou |
