I remember once I was in hospital for a number of weeks, and during this time I ate nothing for at least a week, I remember I looked the picture of health, my skin and eyes were glowing.
I never made the connection but lately I've been becoming concerned with how when I eat, I look like I've been visited by a ghost after getting off a 24 hour flight. Feeling wise I am not so sure, I never really feel how I feel after I've eaten, so I couldn't say, but I don't think I really ever have an upset stomach. I could probably figure it out by eating just a couple of types of food during the day and seeing how it makes me feel and look but it would take a long time to figure out what it is that is causing me to look ill, because if it's making me look ill on the outside, it must be doing something bad on the inside.

Does anyone have any ideas of advice on this, maybe there is a particular type of food that has this symptoms if you have an intolerance or allergy? I am healthy otherwise, young, perfect weight, no vitamin deficiencies or iron deficiencies.

Dairy? Well if I just drink coffee and tea all day and smoke cigarettes, and don't eat anything, I look healthy surprisingly, and since I use milk in my tea and coffee so it probably isn't that although sometimes I feel an upset stomach after a milkshake.

My diet is terrible, that's for sure, but even if it is bad, there has to be something that is not agreeing with me rather than not eating the right foods, because if I don't eat - look great. So it's something or somethings or something in something.

My diet usually is no breakfast, I usually eat one cooked meal a day, I eat a lot of desert type things with cream, a lot of beef burgers with cheese, a lot of spaghetti bolognese, chips and pies, pastries, crossiants, chocolate, cereal, pizza. LOL I know it's bad..

Nutritional therapy is very different from dietetics....you are in the wrong place if that is the route your are reccommending.

Hard to say without more info, especially as you don't have any obvious symptoms. I'd get advice from a nutritional therapist, who will be able to get all the relevant details and give you some tailored advice.

Hi Jonapot.

I had a slow introduction to what turned out to be lactose intolerance, and funny enough that was after a hospital visit. I was in for what they suspected was an acute attack of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). But there was a nutritionist there, who did some checks, and continued after I left there. She showed me this video which shows the similarities between lactose intolerance and IBS.

I recommend anyone to take a look at this because it set me on the path to confirming I had just lactose intolerance, not IBS, and my life has been a lot easier since!

Can't say for certain as no details, but a lot may depend on what you werein hospital for and what treatment they were giving you.
Not eating is higly unlikely to give you the benefits you're looking for long term. Maybe it's a cumulative effect of all the sugar and fat you're eating that makes you feel you look terrible most of the time, and the fact that you had time off the diet that made things appear better? Allergy/intolerance does not look a likely culprit.
