Evening All!
Last year there was a post for everyone applying for 2009 so i thought it only fair that those applying for 2010 should get one aswell! Be quite interesting to see where everyones applying and to get updates on everyones progress!
So, Me first....
I'm Dan, I'm technically a mature student at 21 doing an access to science course this year. I'm applying to Plymouth, Herts, Nottingham, Coventry and leeds.
So....Who's next?

Hey, I am in the same boat as you as I am doing a foundation year at the university of Surrey. How are you finding the foundation year? I really want to stay at Surrey as I love the uni but I think to be on the safe side I am going to apply to coventry and possibly leeds.

Hi Laura,
Just a college access course at the moment for me...May need to do a foundation year next year but hoping i can just go straight into it!
I had a look at surrey but despite the good reviews it wasn't for me...Think it's probably best to use up all 5 spaces just in case. Just this second sent off my ucas form! Woohoo!
Did you do A levels before your foundation course? |

Im waiting on my reference but one thing that I think will casue a problem is interviews. I want to go to the interciew of course but I dont want to miss any days from the foudnation year (you learn and write so much in one day that missing one day puts you right back) so I think if they offer me an inteview I am going to ask if I could ahv a phone interview instead....

Hi Everyone
I am applying for 2010 to Plymouth, Leeds, Coventry, Cardiff, and I had applied to Herts but they have already told me I have been unsuccessful! :(( I have emailed and phoned to ask for feedback but so far I don't know why I was unsuccessful. Fingers crossed for the others!

Is it possible to do phone interviews Laura? would probably make it easier...think i'd be worried if you'd still make a good impression...May say something on the phone which sounds completely wrong but would be fine in person (if you know what i mean lol)
Hi Jas, How are you finding the access course? i'm doing the same at the moment, finding it good managing to keep up with everything!
With the exception of Cardiff (too far for me) we've applied for all of the same so i may see you there (fingers crossed!)
When did you get your application sent off? |

| Hi everyone, I'm a 2nd year, I would be surprised if you could get away with just a phone interview. A large part of dietetics is about how well you can relate to people + personal communication skills, this cannot be assessed over the phone. I think that if your application form contains all the right things and sufficient predicted grades you then are invited to an interview - the next stage of the process. Herts certainly likes to interview each applicant in person for Dietetics. Good Luck! |

when do the interviews start anyway? think i read somewhere that they have a few different days if them so if you can't make one you might be able to go to another?
Just checked on UCAS and after a week of waiting for the reference bit to be done my application has finally been sent! woohoo! Meant to wait for a welcome letter before logging into track but you can use your personal I.D from the apply bit to get in...nothing yet though... |

Hi, I'm a first year mature student studying Dietetics at Chester. Best decision I ever made. There's a nice balance of mature students and school leavers. I had an interview for Chester - group and individual. Good luck to everyone!

| Hi Studentdan, the college lane campus (where dietetics is based) at Herts is reasonably compact and up a gently sloping hill. There are no lakes with ducks on unfortunately although there are conservation areas for the Bee Orchid! The new Student Forum building has just opened costing millions but is very impressive and is the new centre for evening entertainment, also has a Starbucks (if you can afford Starbucks coffees!) and a 6 stop bus stop area outside. The library (Learning Resources Centre) is a very impressive building, make sure you go inside and explore all the floors when you do get to visit. The diet lab is another place to visit. There are other AHP courses at Herts so we have also spent time in the Physios lab. The uni website gives a good idea about facilities, but if you will be moving to live at your uni, it's definitely essential to visit the campus, meet staff and view the accommodation available before you make your firm choice. Hope this helps. |
