I applied for a dietetics assistant post in Northern Ireland (Trust Wide), and I got an interview! So suprised to have got that far, as I imagine that lots of people applied! I have a previous degree in Food Quality, Safety and Nutrition.
I was wondering has anyone any tips or probable interview questions? This interview means a lot to me, I applied for post grad dietetics but did not get in. So I am hoping and praying for success.
It’s been 18 months since I sat my interview for my current DA post so my recollection is a bit rusty but I’ll tell you what I can remember & hope it helps…..
General HR Qs: Why did you apply for this role?, What do you know about this role?, What do you think you will be doing in this role?, Where do you see yourself in 5 years? which was quickly followed by ‘Would you like to pursue a dietetic career?

What do you believe working in a care environment will entail? Do you have any experience of working in a care environment?
If your post is for a specific clinical area; be aware of your target patients, e.g. half of my post was for Medicine of the Elderly and the other Renal so I was asked about nutritional aspects of the elderly and of patients with kidney failure.
If you were approached by a consultant/doctor about a patient commencing enteral feeding what would you do?
Are you aware of any hospital policies in relation to food and nutrition?
What skills do you believe you need to be a dietetic assistant? Evidence of these skills?
That’s all I can remember but will post others if I they come to mind. Just be yourself & be honest..it worked for me! Any other queries then I am happy to help.
