No no 2days are usually a little heavier than the otheres but no 9-5 everyday. I( would recommend holding off purchasing books until you get a feel for the modules and then decide whether or not you think some extra help. The library has a good stock of books :)

Chezza, Lisa - I have some book vouchers that I have to use before June so was going to get a few books with them - I wondered what you would recommend as best buys for the course please?

Aware some are pricey and I have £80 worth so really want to use them, just a shame they don't last till I start the course really!

Thanks

Lou

Lou,

Current second year student at Plymouth here, i'd highly recommend the manual of dietetics, you may not use it that much in the first year but second year its definitely worth having. If there was one book i wish i got before i started just to prepare myself then this would have been it.

although saying that theres usually some copies in the library but they're usually out.

The only book that I'd say definately buy for first year is Introduction to nutrition and metabolism by david bender, fourth edition. The biochem module pretty much follows the text book and you are recommended to have a copy. I think its about 40 or 50 pound.

Thanks for the book recommendations guys, i will look into them!

Faye - I only heard back last week so it took a bit of time. I am sure you will get an offer, will keep my fingers crossed for you. I am also sure that if you have a health-related degree that will go in your favour!

Me again! Chezza and Dan, wondered how much of your time in the first year is spent at the Marjons campus vs. the city centre? I will be commuting from Torquay and a bit nearer the time will need to work out whether it is best to use train, bus or car! I remember at the Open Day a few students mentioned that hardly anytime was spent at the Marjons campus in the first year but wondered if this meant just a day a week?

thanks

Hey, hardly any time is spent up at marjon in first year. Last term we had one lecture there on a Tuesday afternoon but this got changed near the end of term so we weren't there at all. This term we have 2 practicals there on friday afternoons and a basic life support and manual handling session later on in the term but literally thats it. I think it gets alot more in second year but im not really sure.
