Hey all,

I've an interview for the undergrad in Dietetics in the University of Hertfordshire next Monday. I accepted the invitation. However I went to view the fees and it said £7,800 for 2012/13. I thought it was covered by the NHS no?? Is it £7,800 every year for 3 years? I don't think I could afford that on top of living expenses.

Does anyone know if I can get any help with my fees? I'm Irish and already have a degree from an Irish University.

Thnaks,
CeeCee

http://www.herts.ac.uk/courses/Dietetics_fees.cfm

Probably best to ask for clarification when you go to the interview, the last question in any interview is usually "Do you have any questions for us?"

Hi CeeCee,

Congratulations on getting an interview, I am so pleased for you:)
In relation to the fees - perhaps these fees are for all other courses other than NHS funded courses. Did the invitation for interview letter state that this is what the fees were for Dietetics? I can't imagine that Herts would not be funded

Hi CeeCee,

That is terribly strange. I know that the NHS have changed their funding arrangements for some courses this year, but this only came to light after we had applied for the courses this year. I would send the admissions faculty office a quick email if I were you, for peace of mind at least

Hi ceecee,

Delighted for you that your got an interview that is brill news!!!

You defo don't have to pay the fees are covered even if its your second degree i am in the same boat and checked it out!!

I wish you the very best of luck with your interview you will be fine just make sure you can explain why you want to do it, know what biochem, pharmaco and physiology are and why they are nb for dietetics. qualities and skills needed, example of team work good communication skills....ie say from you experience you think you have become quite perceptive particularly being able to pick up discrepancies between verbal and non-verbal communication and you feel this will be integral as part of your role as a dietitian. know what the role and duties of a dietitian are and relate back to any work experience you have done. also why you want to study in herts.

Also know what the interviewers interests are in the area i think the main lady who interviews id very involved in evidenced based dietetics and possibly liver can't remember look of the faculty staff on the website!!

Hope that helps

Faye

Just ring the dietetics dept or whatever school it is and ask. They should be able to point you in the right direction. The last thing you'd want is to end up at the wrong campus - better find out before you go.
