Hi, Yes I am doing this course in Sept!!! I got info through the post the other day to get my crb and health check sorted. I still need to sort out what I am doing for accommodation. Have you got much sorted? Do you know any one else who is doing this course?

Hi chip12 - it's good to hear of someone else on the course! I met one other girl at the open day who'd been offered a place but that's it. I think there are only 10 of us this year.
I've nothing sorted yet. Not sure how to go about accommodation or anything. But I got all my crb and health check stuff through the post so will have to get that off asap. What about you? Do you know anyone else with a place? |

Hi, which open day did you go to? I went to the first one that they had. No I don't know anyone that is going apart from you! I really don't know what to do about accommodation, I have been looking on websites where you can flat share but they all seem to be for rooms now, and don't want to sign up until nearer the start date. Are you from near Leeds?

I was at the second one. I found it really informative - they really managed to sell the university! As far as accommodaiton goes, I've been on the unipol website a bit, but it's hard to know what to do - i think i'll need to take a day to come over and look. I'm hoping to leave it until I get all my checks through - just to be on the safe side! I'm from Northern Ireland, so it's a bit of a trek for me to househunt, but it's not something I want to do over the internet. Are you from near leeds yourself? Jane |

Hi Jane, I was at the first info day and there was only about 12 of us there. When did you do your last degree? I'm excited for the course but not all the studying again!! I am thinking of getting a flat share so then I meet people but need to find out where the nice areas are etc. It is hard looking on the internet at places, think I'm going to have a trip there in the next couple of months. I live about an hour and a half away from Leeds so not far at all but think I would prefer to stay in Leeds rather than travel in for uni.

Really? there were more than 30 people at the second one I think. It was so busy! I finished my last degree in 2010 so I've been working for a few years. What about you? I had been thinking I might see if I can get contact emails for people in the class to see if anyone wants to houseshare, but I'm not sure is it a bit early to be asking yet.

Hi, I also finished in 2010 and been working since then. Yes I think that would be a good idea to see if you can get contact emails for people off the course to house share.I don't think its too early really because we only have about 3months now until we start. Do you have facebook/ email address to keep in contact?

Hi! I've also got a place on the course for september. Its really good to find other people who have a place! I was at the second open day and didn't speak to anyone else who did. Apparently Leeds met are hoping to get a few more NHS funded places for post grad from undergrads who don't get their grades but i'm not sure how may that will be! Have you found anyone else starting in September? Jenny |

Hi Jenny - great to meet someone else on the course! We both must have been at the 2nd open day. I only met one other girl there who had got a place. There must have been a few others there, even if we didn't meet them. How are you getting on with your forms and other bits and pieces? |

| Yer there must have been a few but there were quite a lot of people there! I still have to finish the occupational health form but that's it I think. What about you? Have you had any information on the NHS bursary yet? Have you thought about accommodation? I've seen some post grad house hunting events on the unipol website so that might be an idea but not sure yet! |

I got an offer for PGDip in Sept @ leeds met, but its a self financed place. Approximately 10 000 a year is affordable for me but with the state the job market is in at the moment its made me very nervous about studying and paying so much for 2 years for an unsure future, It is something i really want to do, but thinking about what happens after is very stressful!!
Anyone else nervous about finding a job? Ive only ever really thought about working in the NHS so thats why it really bugs me!! |

| sorry to say but the jobs market in the NHS is awful at the moment - our trust is not replacing anyone that leaves, and the dietetic department is now only seeing patients who need TPN/PEG/NG feeding, all the nutritonal support stuff is having to be dropped due to lack of staff - the team requested three more band 5's and all they offered was two on a six month contract. Those of us that are lucky enough to have jobs all feel that we are at risk as dietetics is seen as not important to those who hold the purse strings - my advice is if you really want to be a dietitian go for it, but dont expect to be guarenteed a job at the end of it. |

| You're lucky to be in the position to be able to afford the fees. I think if I had to pay I wouldn't do it, especially in light of the jobs market. I'm already thinking about lecturing afterwards rather than NHS work. Not good times! |

| I'm not sure I'd be so keen to go if I had to pay fees - however as far as I know, there are still job openings - you just have to be flexible, and prepared to move. You may also have to take temporary posts to get where you want. In the current climate what job is really guaranteed? You may also want to ask yourself is it worth waiting a year and perhaps trying for a funded place? And hey- with Leeds there might be more funded places opening up this year - they are just waiting on the A Level results coming out. You might get a call yet. |
