Hi, I am currently working as a personal trainer and looking for information on how to safely implement a safe but effective calorie reduction that will reduce body fat by 2lbs/week. I know that 7000kcal produces 2lbs of body fat and i will also be factoring exercise into this reduction, after calories expended through exercise has been taken away from the 7000 this leaves me with at least 4000 - 5000kcal reduction to get through diet which can work out to 571 - 714kcal/day. Is implementing a daily calorie reduction of this much per day to much??? or how would i go about structuring a diet that would achieve this amount of reduction??? Any help or advice would be greatly appriciated. Thanks Marc

Hi and welcome

Why the need to be so specific on calories? It's the timing and choice of macronutrients which is more important, IME.

The best bet is to post up what you're proposing for your client here with approx portions and timings as well as brief exercise info, and we can then pass comment.

Hi James thanks for the reply, i have been so specific on the calories so i can make it a measured weight loss intervention through diet. To be honest i don't really know to much about the timing of meals apart from small meals more regular is the better approch for weight loss?? I'm currently reducing calorie intake through diet by 2000kcal/week and looking to acheive a 2000kcal/week reduction through cardiorespirtary exercise. However the clients I prescribe exercise to can only fit in a certain amount of hours per week so for them to achieve a 2lbs weighloss/week I need some nutritional help/guildence with structuring an approch that would acheive this.
